My favorite part was when they said the Amish don’t have autism because they don’t take vaccines.

Well here’s a welcomed straw in the wind. Supposedly, reportedly, the long trumpeted “pivot to Asia” is off. It must have finally occurred to someone in Washington that the declared target, the “great enemy” China, cannot be bullied. And that the U.S. Treasury cannot in any event afford such a grandiose adventure, another crusade to nowhere. 

The internationalist and globalist Financial Times is my source. Specifically, the Grand Poobah of “Swamp Notes”, one Rana Foroohar. According to her, Washington strategists have concluded, “…the U.S. simply does not have enough military capacity to protect the world anymore.” So a reimagined “Monroe Doctrine” is in the cards. South America is more amenable to being kicked around.

The non-pivot to Asia must be a bitter sweet pill for Rana. She sees risks for an “isolationist” comeback. Anytime common sense is applied to U.S. foreign policy, self-satisfied establishment commentators scream, “isolationism!”  It’s like when anyone objects to the slavish U.S. relationship with Israel. Must of course be “anti-semitism!” In short, common sense be damned!

Negli ultimi secoli si è compreso che il potere viene generalmente acquisito sfruttando risorse naturali, denaro e/o un esercito. Con l'evoluzione della globalizzazione e l'interconnessione degli esseri umani in tutto il pianeta, con accesso a una quantità di informazioni senza precedenti a portata di mano, si può affermare che il controllo di queste informazioni sia diventato l'arma più importante nell'arsenale del potere. Chiunque controlli la narrazione, influenza l'opinione pubblica, guida i comportamenti individuali e di gruppo, e apre la strada a istituzioni e individui potenti.

Nell'era dell'informazione è evidente che nessuno è più capace delle grandi aziende tecnologiche di inquadrare e plasmare eventi e idee da un punto di vista o da un insieme di valori specifico. Queste entità possiedono un pubblico mondiale di miliardi di persone ogni minuto di ogni giorno.

Molti, me compreso, hanno completamente trasformato le proprie abitudini mediatiche negli ultimi due decenni e ora considerano i social media come una guida per gli eventi mondiali invece di leggere i giornali. Cognitivamente, molti di noi sanno che, affinché la tecnologia possa offrire esperienze personalizzate più convenienti nel breve termine, potrebbe scendere a compromessi etici relativi a trasparenza, raccolta dati, privacy, autonomia degli utenti e altre pratiche di sfruttamento progettate per manipolarci.

Tuttavia, nel complesso, tendiamo a ignorare questi compromessi. Che si tratti di influenzare le elezioni, di fare pressione per la sperimentazione di massa sugli esseri umani con nuovi farmaci, o di negare la biologia come mero costrutto, data l'enorme ampiezza del loro pubblico, unita alle capacità algoritmiche e tecnologiche, è indiscutibile che le Big Tech svolgano un ruolo sproporzionato nell'ingegneria sociale della nostra società.

A volte questa gestione deriva dal dirigere la nostra attenzione verso i cosiddetti esperti che dovremmo seguire come guida. In altri casi si tratta semplicemente di mentire per omissione, presentando solo un lato della questione per dare l'illusione di un consenso. Esempi recenti includono il Covid, il cambiamento climatico, l'assistenza sanitaria di genere e una serie di altre questioni sociali e politiche.

Si potrebbe sostenere che se esistessero davvero opinioni discordanti e legittime su uno qualsiasi di questi argomenti controversi, i giornalisti investigativi ci rivelerebbero sicuramente la verità. Dopotutto è sacro dovere del Quarto Potere fornire ai cittadini informazioni per tenere sotto controllo la struttura del potere. Lo pensavo anch'io.

Anche se ci sono giornalisti che lavorano presso grandi organizzazioni giornalistiche è ovvio per chiunque abbia osservato la dilagante censura all'interno delle Big Tech negli ultimi anni che le istituzioni che distribuiscono le notizie al pubblico sono soggette alla supervisione e al controllo dello stato.

L'opinione prevalente nei circoli dissidenti è che la censura da parte dei social media di voci ostili alla narrativa ufficiale rappresenti una sorta di recente cattura istituzionale. Ma cosa succederebbe se la supervisione o la pressione per “moderare i contenuti” non fosse il risultato di una recente cattura e non un fenomeno nuovo? E se fosse la manifestazione di un piano governativo di lunga data per finanziare le start-up di queste potenti aziende con l'obiettivo di farne un uso nefasto in futuro?

Se pensate che tutto ciò sia troppo inverosimile per essere vero, considerate che il governo federale che è stato scoperto essere in combutta con le grandi aziende tecnologiche per interferire con la libertà di parola è la stessa istituzione che ha gestito l'Operazione Mockingbird, un progetto segreto della CIA ideato per corrompere singoli giornalisti e organizzazioni mediatiche mondiali al fine di influenzare l'opinione pubblica attraverso la manipolazione delle notizie.

In un'analisi investigativa condotta da Carl Bernstein nel 1977, la CIA ammise che almeno 400 giornalisti e 25 grandi organizzazioni in tutto il mondo erano stati segretamente corrotti per creare e diffondere notizie false per conto dell'agenzia. Da allora, la tecnologia che può essere utilizzata per modificare e persino controllare il nostro pensiero è diventata di ordini di grandezza più potente, raffinata e sofisticata. Tenetelo a mente mentre vi proponiamo un rapido esercizio di riflessione.

Prima di iniziare, sarei negligente se non menzionassi che anche la sola possibilità che il web sia una trappola mi tocca da vicino, perché non solo adoro Internet, ma è anche grazie a questo campo che ho sostenuto me stesso e la mia famiglia fin da quando ero giovane.

Quando ho iniziato a fare questo lavoro a metà degli anni '90, pensavo di essere una persona cinica che poneva domande critiche, ma in realtà ero un giovane ottimista. Credevo sinceramente nell'idea di combinare duro lavoro e fortuna e nell'idea di geni che creassero aziende indipendenti capaci di cambiare il mondo.

A dire il vero, conosco molte persone che l'hanno fatto, tuttavia un'analisi approfondita delle principali aziende tecnologiche che hanno reso possibili i superpoteri del web solleva non pochi interrogativi sulle loro origini e sull'effettiva organicità della loro ascesa fulminea.

Cominciamo con Amazon. Il nonno di Jeff Bezos, Lawrence Preston Gise, era direttore della Commissione per l'energia atomica e contribuì a fondare l'Agenzia statunitense per i progetti di ricerca avanzata (ARPA), da cui si è evoluta ARPAnet. Durante il suo mandato, Gise approvò e finanziò la Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), che avrebbe poi inventato Internet.

È comprensibile che Bezos fosse cresciuto interessandosi a questo settore. Dopotutto, se vostro nonno è stato uno dei padri fondatori di Internet, immagino che anche voi potreste essere attratti dal web. Ma perché questa parte della storia dell'amministratore delegato di Amazon non è stata ampiamente pubblicizzata?

Ho letto molto su Bezos nel corso degli anni e spesso viene descritto come un uomo d'affari con una grande idea. Forse è vero, ma è interessante che persino gli articoli che parlano di Bezos come di un uomo che ha imparato le sue competenze tecniche dal nonno omettano i primi contatti con Internet del suo antenato.

È possibile che l'autore volesse concentrarsi sull'aspetto fai da te, ma se Gise poteva essere un agricoltore intraprendente, è stato anche uno dei pionieri di una delle innovazioni tecnologiche più importanti della storia umana, per non parlare dell'infrastruttura su cui Jeff ha costruito il suo impero. Se dovessi scrivere di come il giovane Jeff sia stato influenzato da suo nonno, mi sembrerebbe piuttosto pertinente.

È interessante notare che la pagina Wikipedia su Jeff menziona che suo nonno era “direttore regionale della Commissione per l'energia atomica degli Stati Uniti (AEC) ad Albuquerque”, ma non menziona né la DARPA né Internet. La voce sulla madre di Bezos non menziona nemmeno Gise per nome. È plausibile che queste omissioni siano semplicemente delle sviste?

Sebbene Amazon abbia iniziato apparentemente come libreria online, si è evoluta in quello che può essere definito un veicolo di raccolta dati. Raccoglie le vostre informazioni personali tramite gli ordini online di articoli fisici, virtuali e farmaceutici. Amazon può vedere chi entra e chi esce dal vostro spazio abitativo con Ring, acquisita nel 2018, e ha la capacità tecnica di ascoltare le conversazioni di oltre mezzo miliardo di persone tramite i dispositivi Alexa installati in case, uffici e dormitori. Più di recente Amazon ha aggiunto al suo impero One Medical, la quale fornisce assistenza virtuale on-demand 24 ore su 24, 7 giorni su 7, da “fornitori autorizzati” e, per coloro che vivono vicino a sedi fisiche, visite di persona. Ai clienti viene assicurata la riservatezza delle loro informazioni, ma rimarrebbero tali se lo stato facesse pressione su Amazon affinché gliele fornisse in caso di “emergenza”?

Proprio l'anno scorso Amazon ha patteggiato una causa da $30,8 milioni per aver conservato in modo improprio per anni le registrazioni vocali di Alexa dei bambini e i video di Ring, insieme alle relative informazioni di geolocalizzazione, in alcuni casi senza il consenso dei consumatori e nonostante le richieste di cancellazione dei dati da parte di questi ultimi. Ha inoltre consentito ai dipendenti della sua unità video Ring di effettuare sondaggi sui clienti. Un dipendente di questa attività ha visionato migliaia di registrazioni video di donne tramite telecamere di sicurezza che monitoravano le camere da letto e altri spazi privati ​​delle loro case, ha affermato la Federal Trade Commission. In un altro caso l'azienda è stata multata in Francia per il suo programma di sorveglianza dei dipendenti. Lo stesso sistema intrusivo è stato anche citato in uno studio come causa di lesioni fisiche e stress mentale sul lavoro.

Forse a causa dei loro imbarazzanti fallimenti, Ring ha ceduto alle pressioni dei difensori della privacy che li hanno criticati per aver permesso ai dipartimenti di polizia di richiedere i filmati degli utenti senza mandato. Alla fine hanno fatto la cosa giusta e hanno rispettato la privacy dei loro clienti, ma dato lo stretto rapporto di Amazon con il governo federale in quanto fornitore di servizi cloud, cosa succede quando le agenzie incaricate chiamano chiedendo filmati audio e video senza mandato della vita privata di qualcuno?

Prendiamo in considerazione ora Google, un'azienda che molti ritengono una fonte di informazioni indiscutibilmente affidabile e arbitro della verità. La popolare storia delle origini del colosso della ricerca web narra che sia nato dall'ingegno di due ragazzi-prodigio di Stanford, alla ricerca di un modo migliore per reperire e presentare la quantità e la profondità di informazioni in crescita caricate sul web.

Ciò che manca nella versione ufficiale è la parte che racconta di come Google sia nata nel 1995 come progetto finanziato dalla DARPA per il programma congiunto Massive Digital Data Systems della CIA e della NSA.

Sebbene la pagina Wikipedia sull'azienda descriva dettagliatamente come hanno ottenuto finanziamenti iniziali da alcuni luminari della Silicon Valley, non menziona che alcune delle ricerche che hanno portato all'ambiziosa creazione di Google sono state finanziate e coordinate da un gruppo di ricerca istituito dalla comunità dell'intelligence per sviluppare e implementare metodi per tracciare individui e gruppi online. Se questa parte della storia non fosse stata cancellata dai resoconti ufficiali, pensate che Google si sarebbe guadagnata rapidamente la fiducia di miliardi di persone in tutto il mondo?

Credevo ingenuamente che le persone a capo dell'azienda fossero motivate principalmente dal desiderio di migliorare il pianeta offrendo accesso globale alle informazioni mondiali. Forse è vero... ma Google si è rivelato anche un ottimo strumento di spionaggio.

C'è stato un tempo in cui il mio cervello pensava che il potere di Google fosse semplicemente quello di assorbire tutti i nostri dati per manipolarci con la pubblicità, ma è diventato molto di più. Con l'espansione dei loro servizi alla posta, alla geolocalizzazione, alla pubblicazione di contenuti, all'intelligenza artificiale, alle telecomunicazioni, ai pagamenti e apparentemente a tutto ciò di cui si ha bisogno per gestire ogni aspetto della propria esistenza digitale, è diventato evidente che la ricerca era solo la rampa di accesso per la loro attività di acquisizione dati.

Ciò ha senso se si considera il ruolo centrale che i motori di ricerca svolgono nella vita moderna. Per la prima volta nella storia dell'umanità, le persone in ogni Paese del mondo pongono spontaneamente domande alle macchine ed eseguono query su qualsiasi cosa passi loro per la testa. Queste richieste possono spaziare da banalità a contenuti didattici, fino a questioni più riservate come problemi di salute.

I legami di Google con l'intelligence sono continuati ben oltre i primi giorni dell'azienda. Nel 2004 hanno acquistato Keyhole (ora Google Maps) da In-Q-Tel, il braccio finanziario della CIA sostenuto anche da FBI, NGA, Defense Intelligence Agency e altri. Pensate che si sia trattato di una transazione finanziaria diretta, o è possibile che ci fossero delle condizioni?

Altri legami con l'intelligence includono il co-investimento di Google e della CIA in attività come Recorded Future, la quale monitora il web in tempo reale nel tentativo di creare un “motore di analisi temporale” (un programma in stile Minority Report che fa previsioni su eventi futuri), e la partecipazione di Google, insieme ad altri giganti della tecnologia, al programma PRISM della NSA, il quale raccoglieva dati dagli utenti senza il loro permesso o un mandato di perquisizione. Nel 2006 l'azienda ha lanciato Google Federal per gestire contratti governativi. Questa divisione dell'azienda contava così tanti ex-dipendenti della NSA che veniva spesso chiamata NSA West.

Più di recente è stato scoperto che Google impiega non pochi ex-agenti della CIA e altri ex-dipendenti governativi di alto livello in ruoli chiave, tra cui quelli che stabiliscono “quali contenuti sono consentiti” sulla loro piattaforma.

Come civili, la maggior parte di noi pensa di cercare sull'intero web, ma Google ha confessato di presentare solo ciò che i suoi censori, in parte composti da ex-agenti dell'intelligence, ritengono appropriato. Sulla base delle rivelazioni di PRISM è anche evidente che i contenuti che consumiamo sono stati, almeno per un certo periodo, condivisi illegalmente con il governo federale. Davvero fantastico!

Per illustrare ulteriormente come le aziende Internet possano essere piuttosto intime con il governo federale e le agenzie di intelligence, considerate questi divertenti fatti marginali relativi ai primi giorni (prima di Google) della ricerca sul Web: le sorelle gemelle di Ghislaine Maxwell, Christine e Isabel Maxwell, furono le fondatrici di Magellan, uno dei primi motori di ricerca su Internet (in seguito acquisito da Excite).

Dopo Magellan Christine ha fondato Chiliad, una società di data mining che collabora con CIA, NSA, DHS e FBI su attività di “antiterrorismo”. Durante questo stesso periodo la società di Isabel, Cyren (in precedenza Commtouch), aveva legami molto loschi con Microsoft e altre aziende della Silicon Valley, presumibilmente in possesso di una backdoor. Christine ora è Technology Pioneer per il World Economic Forum nel Regno Unito e negli Stati Uniti.

Si vociferava che il padre delle sorelle Maxwell, Robert, avesse legami con organizzazioni come l'MI6, il KGB, il Mossad e la CIA. Non è corretto supporre che le sue figlie fossero impegnate nello spionaggio solo per il legame con il padre e la famigerata sorella, o anche solo per i loro contratti con le agenzie di intelligence... ciononostante rimane un fatto degno di nota.

Ciò che è chiaro, tuttavia, è che, dagli albori della ricerca fino ad oggi, il fatto che spesso non pensiamo a chi o cosa ci sia dall'altra parte che fornisce i risultati in questa curiosa relazione intima con la barra di ricerca è probabilmente una caratteristica e non un difetto.

Se la ricerca è il cervello che attinge alla coscienza collettiva di ciò che le persone cercano online, i social media ne sono l'anima, monitorando e connettendo gli utenti in base a ciò che condividono. La prima si basa sull'intento, mentre la seconda è più incentrata sull'identità e sugli interessi.

Sebbene entrambi possano essere utilizzati come strumenti per accumulare una grande quantità di dati, la ricerca è più transazionale poiché l'utente esegue una query, trova i risultati e prosegue, mentre il social ha più a che fare con la creazione di viralità e il legame tra le persone attraverso il grafico sociale.

Il Pentagono (in particolare la DARPA) aveva previsto l'utilità di raccogliere le briciole di pane del comportamento delle persone quando iniziò a lavorare su LifeLog, un progetto per tracciare “l'intera esistenza” di una persona online. Non è chiaro cosa sia successo, ma il progetto fu chiuso il 4 febbraio 2004.

Il destino volle che proprio quel giorno – il 4 febbraio 2004 – fosse il giorno in cui Facebook (allora TheFacebook) fu inaugurato ad Harvard. È una strana coincidenza che Aaron Sorkin non menziona nella versione cinematografica, ma probabilmente non è nulla. La DARPA negò persino di avere un collegamento, quindi immagino che dovremo credergli sulla parola.

Come i suoi colleghi di Google, Facebook ha assunto rapidamente personale proveniente dal mondo dell'intelligence. Con reclutamenti da agenzie come CIA, FBI, NSA, ODNI, nonché da altri dipartimenti governativi tra cui DOJ, DHS e GEC, la società madre di Facebook, Meta, ha assunto oltre 160 ex-dipendenti dell'intelligence sin dal 2018. Complessivamente molti di questi dipendenti sono coinvolti nel cosiddetto team Trust & Safety (naturalmente) che determina quali contenuti amplificare, verificare e/o rimuovere completamente.

Quando Matt Taibbi, Michael Shellenberger e altri giornalisti hanno pubblicato i Twitter Files, è diventato inequivocabile che Twitter era l'ennesima piattaforma Big Tech con legami diretti con l'apparato di sorveglianza degli Stati Uniti.

Similmente a Google e Facebook, anche loro avevano alle loro dipendenze diversi ex-agenti segreti, tra cui un numero allarmante di agenti dell'FBI. Non è chiaro se e come Twitter (no, non lo chiamerò X) abbia collaborato con il governo da quando Elon Musk ha preso il potere.

Tuttavia vi sono prove schiaccianti che, prima dell'acquisizione, il governo federale ha esercitato un'influenza sull'azienda, creando barriere di protezione sui contenuti presentati e persino segnalando specifici utenti come potenzialmente pericolosi. Si tratta di un potere enorme da esercitare nel plasmare i cuori e le menti delle masse.

Potrebbe trattarsi solo di un'altra strana coincidenza, ma Progetto Bluebird era il nome in codice originale di quello che sarebbe poi diventato il Programma di Controllo Mentale MK Ultra. Gli obiettivi di Bluebird includevano “ottenere dati accurati da persone consenzienti e non” e “aumentare l'adesione alle azioni suggerite”. È interessante considerare questo nel contesto dell'iconico logo aziendale, ora in disuso. Chissà se si tratta solo di una strana coincidenza, o di una sorta di segnale di cui gli addetti ai lavori erano a conoscenza da sempre?

Quindi tutte le storie ufficiali sulle origini delle aziende tecnologiche sono, nel migliore dei casi, frutto di artificiosità, nel peggiore dei casi, del tutto inventate? Ci sono sicuramente molti legami misteriosi con l'intelligence e questo saggio ne è solo un assaggio. Forse sono solo coincidenze, ma dopo aver fatto qualche ricerca, questi parallelismi hanno catturato la mia attenzione, quindi ho pensato che valesse la pena rifletterci.

Se l'intento dietro queste organizzazioni è sempre stato un mito, personalmente mi sento ingannato quanto chiunque altro. Ho lavorato nel settore tecnologico per decenni prima di ritirarmi quando mi sono reso conto che molte delle persone che entravano in quel campo non erano più idealisti desiderosi di democratizzare l'informazione mondiale. Invece operavano più come figli bastardi da cartone animato di Hollywood e Wall Street.

Eric Margolis referred last year to the long-ago observation by Arthur Koestler that Israel risked becoming a nasty Sparta-style warlike regime, hated, hyper aggressive, ruleless and souless.

Koestler was born poor in 1905, 120 years ago this month.  A Hungarian Jew and a writer, he bounced around for a while, living for a short time in Palestine (the British Mandate) in 1926, and then working in Berlin for the infamous Russian Zionist Vladimir (later called Ze’ev) Jabotinsky.

I only know about Jabotinsky because I worked in the Pentagon 25 years ago, and all my bosses knew about him, and some idolized him.  He is specifically known for “Revisionist Zionism,” something I never heard of, because frankly, in the United States, there should be no need to be experts on the historical evolution of other people’s founding ideologies.

Revisionist Zionism exchanges the ideas of Ben Gurion, of European and Russian Jews settling in the land of Palestine as individuals, for a more expansionist variation.  Jabotinsky’s Zionism came with the assumption of Jewish sovereignty over the entire region, not only the River to the Sea, but covering both sides of the Jordan River, and far beyond.

Bibi has the map, and we think about it, if we think about Israel at all, as Greater Israel.  It’s pretty big for 9 million Jews to manage, but like Sparta, there are millions of helots to help. We’ll come back to this technicality in a second.

Arthur Koestler himself had a bold and productive life, which included living in the Soviet Union and becoming a communist, being imprisoned in Spain by Franco, imprisoned again in France, joining the French Foreign Legion, rejecting communism, all while recording his intellectual evolution and writing incredible books, befriending many intellectuals of the 20th century, including George Orwell.  In 1944, he met with Menachem Begin of Irgun in Palestine in 1944, and soundly failed to convince him to abandon militant attacks and accept a two-state solution.  In his memoirs, he realized he had been naive to think his suggestions might be considered where militancy and rabid urgency was the order of the day.

Revisionist Zionism, used by the greater Israel crowd, the militant genocidaires, and more moderate Zionists, is being rehabilitated for western consumption, as this 2006 Jerusalem Post opinion piece explains. Rehabilitating Jabotinsky was hasbara for the early 2000’s as Americans were understanding, what Charlie Kirk began to understand two years ago, that the US government has and continues to be lied into a series of Middle Eastern wars for the flawed and covetous myth of Greater Israel.

Two decades and seven or more countries destroyed, destabilized and decapitated later, we come to the present day, and as Americans, we need to think about what happens when your friends need help but just want more of the same.  Western society – concurring and in concordance with the rise of the central state – has traded rugged and tough with broken and in need of counseling, so counseling it is.

America, your friend Israel is in bad shape.  They are in constant conflict, and a danger, spiritually and physically, to everyone around them. Israel celebrates its assassin creed;  it views its neighbors as a wild dog considers a flock in a coop – kill them all with bloody abandon and leave them to rot.

It has become a nasty little Sparta, in a political world that is soft, conciliatory, compromised, and corrupt.  The world of national leaders fully recognize the murderer at their table, and we know this from their sideways glances, raised eyebrows and hushed murmurs in hallways.

As the drumbeat of the populations they rule over is becoming undeniable, the planets’ politicians have to do something.  What can be done with a nasty Spartan regime?  Well, in a normal world, we would not trade or assist their genocide, cover for the endless attacks and assassinations, or the support the expansionary racism of the State of Israel. Much as a global response to a natural disaster, we would come together to constrain bad state behavior and save people, but this natural disaster has been going on since 1948, nonstop; perhaps we are inured to it.

Helot-like, we serve Israel’s aggression, politics and economy because that’s what our parents did, and our grandparents.  We don’t ask why, even if we grumble at times.

Greater Israel is possible today, and may be achieved, because the world is full of her helots, and DC in particular is an outpost of Sparta, filled with congressional and presidential slaves, dependent labor that allows the masters to be full-time warriors.

In fact, these full-time warriors have many wars, not just currently, but planned for the future, as with the case to liberate northern Cyprus from the Turks.  This, and other wars, will be pursued after the elimination through destruction, murder, starvation and disease of 90% of the Gazan population, and the development of Gazan real estate, and most importantly, Gazan gas fields.  These fields are bordered to an extent by Cyprus, so creating a Cypriotic helotry is important to the Israeli warriors.

Americans don’t like to believe they are little more than helots, because being serf or slave to a foreign power is obviously contrary to our own founding mythology.

So maybe the question is not what to do when your best friend is a nasty Spartan, but what do you do when you realize he views you, your family and country, and your political and military infrastructure as part of their serviceable, if not particularly bright, helotry?

This kind of counseling takes a different path, more along the lines of “It’s not you, it’s me” or a typical aircraft safety briefing where you must affix your oxygen mask securely before assisting others with theirs.

The world may, or may not, be able to help Gaza two years into the latest iteration of frenzied Zionist slaughter and genocide to create a real estate bonanza, as Bezalel Smotrich put it, himself born in an illegal settlement in occupied Syria 45 years ago.  I would not underestimate the power of 8 billion creative minds to come up with something.  There is always karma, and the way things shift over time.

The city of Sparta ended as a result of a loss of population (check), economic decline (check), and inability to support a large army by itself (check). Sparta’s allies became resentful of its dominance, and rebelled against its rule. Sparta was invaded and subordinated.  Spartans, a minority in their own land, had always feared a helot uprising, or revolt, and eventually this happened. Today, we are not Gaza, even as the majority in the US and the world support Palestinians and wish to see them freed, fed, restored to their land.  If anything, we are more like the Shia Druze, who have been made citizens of Israel, and fight for it.  But it looks like the western helots of Israel are in revolt, and the collapse of Israel as a warrior state is coming.  Historians will wonder if the Zionist spasm of the 20th century was worth it, and Jews everywhere will rediscover their religion and say Never Again.

A key goal in writing this publication has been to provide a voice to forgotten victims of medicine so I try to respond to all the messages I receive—particularly those in dire need. However, as this publication has gotten larger, it’s become harder and harder for me to adequately do that due to the volume of correspondences I receive. For this reason, I decided to have monthly open threads where readers can ask whatever they want and tie that into a brief and insightful topic.

In a previous article, I shared some of my views on the back and neck pain industry—particularly how tragic it is that so many people are chronically afflicted by these conditions and that safe and effective treatments for spinal pain have been sidelined so unsafe and ineffective treatments can stay in business.

Sadly this issue appears again and again in medicine (e.g., we all just saw how safe and effective treatments for COVID-19 were kept off the market so the pandemic profiteers could make a killing with bad drugs). This I believe is because the existing economic model incentives indefinitely providing mediocre “treatments” to patients rather than innovative ones which solve the issue (and thus eliminate future sales).

In turn, I have seen many different effective treatments for spinal pain throughout my lifetime, but at the core, my perspectives on the subject have been shaped by my belief that one of the most important things in life is freedom within the body, mind, and spirit.

For example, consider watching this one minute video from Skylab (a now decommissioned space station) and observing how it makes you feel.

After a bit of looking, I found out that gibbons can swing through trees at 35 miles per hour and found numerous unbelievable videos of how they can fly through forest canopies with minimal effort while doing numerous feats that look almost impossible (and thus has been extensively researched). Of the videos I came across, this was the one I was the most impressed by.

When I saw the final video, I immediately began imagining what it would be like to be able to move like that. While we can’t (although I have seen movement arts that confer human beings an incredible amount of freedom of motion such as skiing), it is possible to have that degree of freedom in the mind and spirit and a big part of why I write here is so that I can help share that freedom of motion with you.

The combination of many Ukrainians remaining adherents of Bandera’s ideology, their ultra-nationalists’ claims to parts of Poland, and their Ambassador to Poland’s confirmation that his co-ethnics don’t want to assimilate understandably constitute a latent national security threat to Poland.

Polish-Ukrainian relations have been increasingly strained over the past few years due to the former grain dispute, the ongoing Volhynia Genocide dispute, and the influx of Ukrainian refugees into Poland. It’s this last element that’s arguably the most sensitive since it’s become a part of daily life for most Poles. Not only do a growing number of them object to state benefits being provided to this community, but they’re also displeased with many of them refusing to assimilate into Polish society.

Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Vasily Bodnar inadvertently made matters much worse in a recent Facebook post where he confirmed that his co-ethnics don’t want to assimilate. The context concerns the state’s decision over the summer to allow Ukrainian to be taught as the second foreign language in schools if parents request it, the human resources are available, and the school gives its approval. Some Poles are concerned that this move will exacerbate existing societal divisions if implemented at scale.

Bodnar was responding to these concerns, referencing the abovementioned law and Ukrainian refugees’ contribution to the Polish economy among other points, when he misguidedly added that “We want to help our children preserve our identity, contribute to their return home to Ukraine when the security situation allows it. We are for socialization and integration, but it is clear that we are not for assimilation. Most of our refugees are not here of their own will but because of an ongoing terrible war.”

While also writing how “grateful” they are, the above post suggested that they’re not “grateful” enough to only learn Polish and thus fully assimilate. Post-WWII Poland became one of the world’s most homogenous societies, which was the first time in this over-millennium-old civilization-state’s history that it was almost exclusively ethnic Polish and Roman Catholic since it began incorporating East Slavs and Orthodox Christians in the late 10th century, only for this to abruptly change from 2022 onwards.

Even though Bodnar insisted that “we have no intentions of interfering in the internal affairs of Poland”, leader of the “Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists” (OUN) Bogdan Chervak ominously warned last fall that “Poles are playing with fire” in response to a shitpost map of Greater Poland on social media. That scandal was analyzed here and included a warning about how Ukrainian ultra-nationalists inspired by former OUN chief Stepan Bandera might resort to terrorism to advance their own claims to Poland.

Last month’s Bandera flag scandal in Warsaw’s largest stadium prompted President Karol Nawrocki to propose a law that would criminalize Bandera’s anti-Polish ideology whose adherents carried out the Volhynia Genocide of over 100,000 Poles. The combination of this ideology’s continued prevalence among Ukrainians, their ultra-nationalists’ claims to parts of Poland, and Bodnar’s confirmation that his co-ethnics don’t want to assimilate understandably constitute a latent national security threat.

Therefore, while Ukrainian can legally be taught as the second foreign language in Polish schools, Nawrocki and his allies would do well to discourage them from approving such requests on national security grounds. It would be best if the law was changed, but the ruling liberal-globalist coalition might not support such an initiative from the conservative opposition. One way or another, Poland must ensure that all Ukrainians assimilate, otherwise they might one day threaten its territorial integrity.

Sundance over at The Conservative Treehouse brought to my attention an effort by some House Republicans to increase private security for members of Congress.  The Treehouse links to an article from Politico that describes one budgeting option that would grant as much as $25,000 each month to individual lawmakers so that they may “have access to around-the-clock personal security.”  These security guarantees would be in addition to current levels of federal spending for lawmakers’ safety — including those funds that assist Capitol Police in partnering with state and local law enforcement.

Over a haunting still image that shows defenseless Ukrainian immigrant Iryna Zarutska sitting on a North Carolina train just before a black man brutally stabbed her from behind and murdered her last month, Sundance poses this question: “What incentive exists to make sure American society is safe from domestic regional violence, if the representatives of the regions don’t ever have to concern themselves with such matters?”

It is an excellent question.  It is astounding to me that Democrats (and squishy RINOs) can get up in front of television cameras and demand gun confiscation while insisting on taxpayer-funded security details for themselves.  Ordinary people can’t afford private security.  That’s precisely why they have a natural right to defend their lives in the best ways that they can — and why the Second Amendment explicitly protects that right in the Constitution.  Lawmakers who walk around with armed guards have no business disarming citizens.

Before Nancy Pelosi, Hakeem Jeffries, or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez moans, “It’s different because members of Congress are public figures,” allow me to say, “Hogwash!”  Most Americans can’t identify federal lawmakers.  Even the more famous ones look completely different in real life without an inch of makeup on their faces.  But try walking down certain city streets with a red “Make America Great Again” hat for everyone to see!  Or try waving an American flag in neighborhoods filled with foreigners who view that flag with contempt!

Regular Americans understand that they are sitting ducks in some parts of the United States.  If Kyle Rittenhouse had been unarmed amid the Antifa-BLM riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin five years ago, he would not be alive today.  Because of his heroic actions, Democrat politicians have painted a target on Kyle’s back for the rest of his life.  Why should members of Congress receive thousands of dollars of taxpayer-funded security each month when Kyle does not?

This brings us to a larger point.  Why should members of Congress be insulated from the consequences of their destructive policies?  In the Rittenhouse case, the Antifa-BLM riots of 2020 caused billions of dollars in property damage and resulted in numerous deaths across the country.  They were the most costly riots in American history.  None of the destruction would have occurred had Democrat mayors, governors, and lawmakers not cheered on the arson, violence, and murder.

Vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris and other prominent Democrats in Congress openly promoted leftist fundraising platforms that promised to bail rioters out of jail.  It was one of the most brazen examples of elected officials actively inciting violent crimes across the United States — actions that sensible observers would describe as “insurrection” against the U.S. government and the American people — yet no lawmakers were ever held accountable for their crimes.

The same Democrats who fueled that summer of fire and bloodshed simultaneously demanded that regular Americans — including Kyle Rittenhouse — be disarmed.  Consider how outrageous those dual policy positions really are.  While Democrat lawmakers encouraged Antifa and BLM domestic terrorists to burn down businesses, drag people out of their vehicles, and put Americans in harm’s way, they had the temerity to call for the repeal of the Second Amendment and the confiscation of Americans’ weapons.

Anybody with any appreciation for American history knows that the Founding Fathers included explicit protections for gun ownership within the Second Amendment of the Constitution precisely as a check on government overreach.  Their experience with British Redcoats taught them that armed citizens are the ultimate safeguard against government tyranny.  Twenty-first-century Americans who have perhaps forgotten why civilian gun ownership is an indispensable component of true human liberty need only look at footage of Minneapolis, Kenosha, or D.C. burning during the summer of 2020 while Democrats denounced armed citizens as “racists.”  Lawmakers with security details can survive Democrat-sponsored riots.  Ordinary citizens without the “privilege” of self-defense are sacrificial victims.

Taking another giant step back from the Democrats’ 2020 Antifa-BLM riots, consider all the ways that U.S. lawmakers have made Americans less safe over the last fifty years.  Since the ’70s, Americans have consistently highlighted (1) crime and (2) illegal immigration as significant challenges to their way of life.  Knowing this, Democrat and Republican politicians have cycled through various promises, lies, and excuses over the last five decades as they pretend to fight crime and illegal immigration while really doing little to address either threat.

During the Obama and Biden presidencies, Democrats went so far as to call for open borders, mass amnesty for illegal aliens, the defunding of local police forces, an end to the enforcement of many property crimes, and clemency for violent offenders serving time in prison.  Once again, Democrats pushed for these policies while simultaneously demanding that the Second Amendment be repealed and Americans be disarmed.

Lawmakers’ pro-crime policies and “criminal justice” reforms have occurred at exactly the same time that they sense their personal security in jeopardy.  Coincidence?  Of course not.  When you put murderers, rapists, and thieves back on the streets, incidents of murder, rape, and theft rise.  When you open up America’s borders to foreign soldiers, narco-terrorists, and America-hating zealots, you get a concomitant rise in industrial sabotage, cartel violence, and acts of terrorism.  Members of Congress take one look at the chaos and general threats to their lives and demand around-the-clock personal security.  Meanwhile, ordinary Americans living inside Democrat-controlled jurisdictions have to jump through administrative hoops and beg municipal authorities for permission to carry firearms.

To me, it seems only fair that those who intentionally put our country at greater risk should be the first ones to disarm.  At the very least, they should not receive the benefits of extra security while dooming regular Americans to lives with less security and greater violence.

Congress’s hypocrisy when it comes to the security of lawmakers versus the security of regular Americans is part of a much broader problem: Lawmakers see themselves as separate from and superior to the rest of society.  Adam Schiff and his colleagues apparently believe that they are entitled to commit mortgage fraud with impunity.  Congresswoman Ilhan Omar apparently believes that she can commit immigration fraud while putting the interests of Somalia ahead of those of the United States.  Nancy Pelosi and the many rags-to-riches members of Congress apparently believe that they should be able to use nonpublic information to make a fortune on the stock market.  Lawmakers apparently believe that it is appropriate to flood public schools across the country with illegal aliens who struggle to speak English while sending their own children to well guarded private institutions.  In other words, members of Congress insist on one set of rules for the public while exempting themselves from the consequences of the very laws they pass.

America is not a country of kings, queens, and assorted royalty.  This is a place in which the people who represent Americans in Congress are meant to have no additional privileges relative to anyone else.  What’s good for the goose is good for the gander, and members of Congress should endure equally the policies they force upon American society.  At the very least, they shouldn’t be entitled to armed guards while working to disarm everyone else.
